Praill's Greenhouse on Blackwell Rd. is celebrating 100 years of business in Sarnia.
The shop is well-known for their hanging baskets, but also offers a wide selection of annuals, perennials, and nursery stock.
Throughout their history, four generations have taken over the business.
Frank Praill founded the business in 1915 and was taken over by his son, Harold Praill, upon Frank's death in 1946. In 1997, Bruce Praill, the third generation owner, took over the business. On February 1 of this year, Sean, Ian and Chad took the reigns with the help of their father.
They continue to provide the service and products that their father, grandfather, and great grandfather were so proud and passionate about.
Third generation owner Bruce Praill says this is a proud moment for the business.
"The fact that we've been here for 100 years and its still in the family. I think that's very exciting," says Bruce. "I've noticed in the last 10-15 years some tremendous changes. It's hard to know what the future brings, but every day is something different."
To celebrate 100 years of success, Praill's Greenhouse is holding a city-wide BBQ on location Saturday and Sunday from 11am-1pm.
