Two Officers Assaulted Over The Weekend

One of 12 people arrested by Sarnia Police Services over the weekend faces charges of assaulting police, uttering threats and resisting arrest.

Officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Euphemia St. around 5am Saturday, after receiving a call about a young woman yelling and screaming.

When police arrived the woman was allegedly out of control and appeared to be under the influence of some substance.

She was taken into custody following a short struggle with officers.

Its alleged that while handcuffed the woman spit on the face of one officer and struck a second, yelling she would kill both of them.

The 19-year-old female is in custody, pending a bail hearing.

In another incident Saturday, police say a 30-year-old inebriated male who refused to leave a residence in the 300 block of Cromwell St. became belligerent, yelling and cussing at both the home owner and officers. When approached by police the man fled and hid behind a nearby home.

An officer located the suspect who then allegedly kicked him in the chest. Police say he continued to struggle as officers arrested him.

He was held for a bail hearing. He’s charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.
