With hydro prices having increased again effective this month, Bluewater Power is offering tips to reduce energy consumption this summer.

The price from 11am to 5pm is now 16.1 cents per kilowatt hour, compared with eight cents for off-peak hours on weekdays from 7pm to 7am, and all day on weekends and holidays.

It’s estimated the change will add $5.71 to the average monthly household electricity bill.

Bluewater Power CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says there are ways to find cost savings including keeping your house temperature a few degrees higher.

McMichael-Dennis encourages everyone to run large appliances like washing machines during off-peak hours.

Also May 1, delivery rates increased 0.3 per cent.
