Sifton Appealing Sarnia's Official Plan

Sifton Properties is appealing Sarnia's new official plan to the Ontario Municipal Board.

The company proposed developing the northwest corner of Modeland Rd. and Michigan Ave in 2014, but Sarnia council decided last July to keep the area designated as low density in its official plan.

Mayor Mike Bradley is disappointed the developer has taken this action following considerable public consultation.

Bradley says the official plan board hearing could be very expensive and may not even take place this year.

Siftons plans called for a smaller grocery store, a four-storey seniors complex similar to Landmark Village on Exmouth, a small medical centre with two doctors and possibly a pub/restaurant.
