The Sarnia Sting is finding a way to win and it has a lot to do with good goaltending.
Despite being outshot in each game, the Sting has won its last three including Sunday night's 2-1 win in Owen Sound in a game rescheduled from Friday due to bad weather.
Taylor Dupuis was again the difference turning away 41 of 42 shots for his 15th win in net for the Sting this season.
Hayden Hodgson opened the scoring late in the first period on a redirect of a pass with purpose from rookie defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
The game remained 1-0 until defenseman Kevin Spinozzi's shot from the point beat Owen Sound goaltender Jack Flinn for what would turn out to be the game winning goal.
The Attack would cut the lead in half, however, with over eight minutes still to go, when Justin Brack fired the puck past a surprised Dupuis on a turnover deep in the Sting zone.
The Sting, as has been the case of late, would bend but not break, weathering the Attack for the 2-1 victory with the shot clock favouring Owen Sound 42-27.
It was a big western conference win that moves fifth place Sarnia three points ahead of the Attack.
Troy Lajeunesse was outstanding for the Sting, drawing an assist on the winning goal and being named the third star. The diminutive forward has 22 points including nine goals in 40 games and is fifth in OHL rookie scoring.
Sarnia (21-15-2-2) has another three games in three days this week. Kitchener is at the RBC Centre Thursday and Plymouth Friday before the Sting heads down the 402 for another match-up with the Knights in London Saturday.
