The Lambton OPP say three teens learned a valuable lesson after making up a story for police.

Officers responded around 8:30pm Wednesday night, to a report of a teen being injured with a knife during a confrontation behind a Petrolia business.

The teens involved told police they were confronted by two masked individuals.

The emergency response team and OPP Canine Unit were called in, but as the investigation progressed officers discovered the story wasn’t true.

The three, aged 15 and 16, admitted they were horsing around with a knife when one suffered a non-life threatening injury requiring medical attention.

Police say no further information will be released.
