Johnson Stops 65 In Legionnaires Win

Hunter Johnson stopped an astonishing 65 shots, leading the Sarnia Legionnaires (20-8-0) to a 5-3 win over the Chatham Maroons (16-9-1) in GOJHL play Thursday night.

Sarnia pulled ahead 2-0 after the first period on goals by Riley Babkirk and Jay Clarke. The teams traded powerplay goals in the second period, putting the Legionnaires ahead 3-1.

Sarnia's Davis Boyer and Chatham's Brennan Feasey scored two goals each in the final frame. Ryan Vendramin picked up the other Legionnaires goal.

The win marks the Legionnaires' third in four games while the Maroons are on a three game losing streak. Sarnia also beat Chatham last Thursday by a 6-5 score.

Sarnia will host the league-worst St. Mary's Lincolns (2-22-2) next Thursday night at 7pm at Sarnia Arena.
