Petrolia’s Fire Chief says a working smoke detector likely saved lives in an early morning fire in the Hard Oil Town.

Lawrence Swift says they arrived on scene at the structure in the 4000 block of Robert St. at around 5am.

Swift says the building houses five apartments.

Everyone made it out safely. Damage is estimated at about $25,000.
