Sting Tames Wolves With Strong Third

The Sarnia Sting summoned the Force on Star Wars night to snap a four game losing skid with a 5-2 win over the visiting Sudbury Wolves Saturday.

With the game tied 1-1 after two periods the Sting scored four goals in the third to break it open.

Defenceman Kevin Spinozzi was named the first star, leading the Sting with two goals and an assist.

Troy Lajeunesse had another strong game scoring his fifth goal and adding a helper.

Also scoring for the Sting were Daniel Nikandrov and Patrick White with a shorthanded marker. Anthony DeAngelo had two assists as did Nikita Korostelev and Vladislav Kodola.

Letowski feels a lot of his players "stepped up".

Sarnia outshot the Wolves 39-27 with former Sudbury netminder Taylor Dupuis picking up the win. Troy Timpano made 34 saves for the Wolves who have the worst record in the league at 3-17.

The Sting wore special C-3PO-stylized Star Wars jerseys that are being auctioned off online in support of the Inn of the Good Shepherd. Fans also brought non-perishable food donations to the RBC Centre.

With the win, Sarnia (7-10-1-1), moves out of last place in the Western Conference past Windsor.

The Sting returns to action Thursday night against the Spitfires in Windsor and then returns home for games against Erie Friday and Saginaw Sunday November 23rd.
