Helping Carver

A Mooretown family is hoping to raise some money to help support a 4-year-old boy's ongoing battle with a rare metabolic disorder.

Carver Hummel has been travelling to and from London and Toronto hospitals for more than 30 per cent of his short life.

Methylmalonic acidemia is a disorder which prevents the body from properly processing certain proteins and fats.

Carver's grandfather Jim Kanyuk says they're hoping a recent liver transplant will help.

Kanyuk says his daughter and her husband have both missed a lot of work over the last few years to care for their son, and travel expenses and medication costs continue to add up.

He has launched an online fundraiser through www.youcaring.com listed as "Help Carver Survive His Metabolic Disorder."
