A pair of rookies sparkled, powering the Sarnia Legionnaires to a 3-2 win over the London Nationals.

Petrolia native Cornel Felder, who went to Hill Academy Prep School last year, made 22 saves on 24 London shots. Defenceman Cameron Clarke picked up his first GOJHL goal.

Felder says it felt good to get his first win on home ice.

Legionnaires Head Coach Dan Rose says the young Nationals team put up a good fight.

Nathan Mater and Cody Trowell also scored for the Legionnaires, who were up 3-0 after two periods. Austin Kemp scored twice for London in the third period.

For the Legionnaires, it’s their third straight win to begin the season, all of which have come on home ice. The Nationals drop to 1-3-0 on the campaign.

Overall, Sarnia outshot London 36-24.

The Legionnaires return to the ice on Friday night in St. Thomas.
