Heat Warning Issued For Friday
It certainly hasn’t been a hot summer, but it’s not over yet.
Another late summer heat warning has been issued for Sarnia-Lambton and much of southern Ontario for Friday.
Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says it’s going to be hot, humid and windy with the chance of severe weather.
He says a high of 32 C (90 F) with a humidex of 40 C or higher will give way to a sharp cold front that will sweep through Friday afternoon and evening.
We’re advised to watch for threatening conditions.
While extreme heat can put everyone at risk from heat illnesses, health risks are greatest for older adults, infants, young children, people with chronic illnesses such as breathing difficulties, heart conditions or psychiatric illnesses, people who work in the heat, people who exercise in the heat, people without access to air conditioning and homeless people.
Drink plenty of liquids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.
The arrival of the cold front will bring a dramatic change in temperature.
After a high of 32 C Friday we’ll wake up to a morning temperature of 15 C and a high Saturday of 19 C. (66 F)
