Council Incumbent Not Running Again

There will be at least one new member on Sarnia City Council after the upcoming municipal election.
Councillor Jon McEachran has announced he will not seek re-election October 27.
McEachran has served two consecutive terms and says serving on council for the past eight years has been one of the greatest honours of his life.
He cites his family and business as two major considerations in his decision to not seek a third term.
McEachran is co-owner of the Vidal Street Industrial Park.
“My children are starting to get older and I want to make sure I’m there for them; and VIP and Dockside are growing exponentially and I need to make sure that I’m there to help my business through this tremendous growth period,” says McEachran. “When I was first elected, I had no idea I would end up spending so much time with the other eight individuals on city council. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for every member of our council. They do great work. Mike Bradley deserves a lot of credit as our mayor. He has shown great leadership on a myriad of issues. His heart is really in it.”
McEachran says council has accomplished a lot during his terms and says he takes pride in the fact that they’ve eliminated about two thirds of Sarnia’s debt.
