The Cull Drain Bridge at Bright’s Grove will come down but there’s still a chance it’ll be restored in full or part to retain its heritage.

Sarnia Council agreed unanimously in special session this morning (Thursday) , that the structure on Old Lakeshore Rd. must be removed for safety reasons.

An engineer’s inspection report recommended immediate action, saying the bridge is in danger of collapse.

However, Mayor Mike Bradley notes the bridge is historically significant.

Options will be discussed by council at its September 8 meeting.

There’s no firm quotes, but staff estimates removal could cost around $250,000 with restoration two or three times that.
