Sarnia police caught a would-be thief in the act early Wednesday morning.

Constable Les Jones says officers were called to a south end convenience store shortly after 3:30am.

He says officers entered through an insecure door at the rear of the business and found a man huddled in the corner.

A 28-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested and is being held for a bail hearing. He’s charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools, possession of stolen property, and two counts of breaching probation.

Police remind business and homeowners to protect themselves by securing windows and doors and leaving lights on when you’re away.
