Training For Disaster
Sarnia-Lambton emergency responders are hitting the books next week, receiving training on potential railroad accidents.
Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Rail have teamed up to educate the firefighters from a number of different municipalities on what to do in case of a railway disaster.
CN Spokesperson Jim Feeny says its hoped the workshops improve collaboration between municipal and railway staff.
Two days of classroom exercises are scheduled in Sarnia next week, on Monday and Tuesday. (Aug 11-12)
That will be followed up with hands-on training in September.
CN will provide a training tank car for the practical training, while CP will supply an “emergency foam deployment trailer.”
