No Local West Nile Virus Detected

Lambton Public Health says there have been no positive cases of West Nile locally.

Environmental Health Specialist Paul Buttery says they have submitted mosquito pools every week, since monitoring began, as well as several dead birds for testing.

He says the cooler weather has led to fewer mosquitoes.

Buttery says West Nile season can last until October and residents should continue to protect themselves against mosquitoes by using mosquito repellent, wearing light coloured clothing and remove standing water from your property.
