New Notification System Put To The Test
Sarnia police is pleased with the first mass notification sent out by “My CNN” Sunday night.
The Community Notification Network alerted over 44,000 phone subscribers to Environment Canada’s tornado warning posted for north and east Lambton just before 7pm.
Constable Les Jones says the response has been positive.
Mandatory alerts sent out by the system include tornado warnings, drinking water advisories and shelter-in-place or evacuation orders.
Participants have the option to sign up for others including school bus cancellations.
Residents can register for the alerts by visiting www.caer.ca or www.sarnia.ca
