Inside City Workers Get Contract

A new contract agreement has been reached with unionized and non-unionized employees at Sarnia City Hall.

It includes a wage hike of 1.5 per cent retroactive to January 1 this year and increases of 1.5 per cent January 1 of next year and January 1, 2016.

In addition, minor adjustments will be made to some benefits.

Acting Mayor Dave Boushy said he was pleased negotiations were conducted in a business-like and amicable manner.

The cost of the agreement to the city for the 113 C.U.P.E. employees totals close to $490,000 over the three years, while the cost for the 39 non-union employees totals almost $250,000.
