Sting Draft Czech Forward First Overall in Import Draft
He could be a top 10 pick in the NHL Entry Draft next season, but there is some concern about him coming over to play in North America.
Sarnia chose Pavel Zacha from the Czech Republic with their first overall selection in the CHL Import Draft.
Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair says it was about taking the best player available.
The Sting were able to put Nikolay Goldobin on a reserved list after he was selected in the first round of the NHL draft over the weekend.
Sinclair says they are confident they can get Zacha to play next season. He says having some recent success with their import players being drafted into the NHL will be beneficial in bringing Zacha to Sarnia.
Zacha suited up for the Czech Republic in the World Juniors as a 16-year-old.
