Sarnia’s mayor welcomes a series of measures passed by the Michigan Senate, which could subject a proposed nuclear waste site near Kincardine to more scrutiny.

One resolution asks the International Joint Commission to review the proposal by Ontario Power Generation to bury nuclear waste on the site of the Bruce Nuclear Station, about 1 kmĀ from Lake Huron.

Mike Bradley says he is encouraged.

The resolutions will be presented to the state house of representatives and if passed will be submitted to U.S. President Barack Obama.

In the meantime, Mayor Bradley is keynote speaker at a one day conference on Friday, on Lake Huron’s Coastal Environment at the Oakwood Inn in Grand Bend.
