Enbridge Fined $75,000

Enbridge Pipelines has been fined a total of $75,000 in Sarnia Court for violations dating back three years.

Environment Ministry spokesperson Kate Jordan says in 2011 Enbridge was given ministry approval to operate its sewage works on Plank Rd. in Sarnia.

She says conditions imposed included inspection of materials in storm water retention ponds and limits on the amount of material released each hour.

Jordan says an inspection in early 2012 determined there had been instances where the approved maximum discharge amount was exceeded without ministry approval.

She says Enbridge was also fined for failing to produce an updated operations manual and was slapped with a 25 per cent victim surcharge fee.
