A slight increase in development charges has been presented to Sarnia council for consideration.

BMA Management Consulting Inc. has proposed a $91 increase to $7,154 on a single family home in its Draft Development Charge Background Study.

Councillor Jon McEachran says supports the modest increase, saying he wants Sarnia to remain as competitive as possible.

The charges are in place so new development helps pay for costs brought about by that development including roads, firehalls and libraries.

The increase will be debated at council’s next regular meeting June 9.
