Bayside Centre Underground Parking Concerns
Delayed repairs to the downtown Bayside Centre’s underground parking structure has some Sarnia councillors concerned.
An update on Labour Ministry orders was presented Monday.
Councillor Bev MacDougall is worried about potential liability.
Orders issued in August 2012 called for restricted use of the street level parking lot, installation of temporary shoring and required the owner to submit an engineering report on the structural work and the repairs needed to correct the damage.
Last September, a revised order required monthly inspections, maintenance of temporary bracing and stipulated that a repair strategy commence no later than June 1 of this year.
Council was told the parking structure remains safe and repairs are hoped to being next spring with the work completed by August 2015.
