Garbage Collection Changes Being Considered

Petrolia will have to pay to have its garbage trucked to Watford once the dump in the Hard Oil Town closes in 2020.

Staff and Waste Management officials have been working on options to try to save money once the town’s garbage contract expires at year’s end.

Mayor John McCharles says one option being mulled over is bi-week pick up which would save about $68,000 a year.

McCharles says they could save a lot more if residents would improve their recycling efforts. Petrolia has one of the lowest recycling rates in all of Lambton County.
