Vacant Farmhouse Fire In St. Clair Township

May 6, 2014 12:28pm
An overnight structure fire in St. Clair Township is being investigated by Lambton OPP to determine if there’s any link to other arsons in the area over the past few years.
Port Lambton and Becher volunteer firefighters responded to a vacant farmhouse, at 461 Lambton Line, just after 2am.
Deputy Fire Chief Steve Bicum says the house was fully engulfed when they arrived and part of the roof had started to collapse.
Bicum says it took until 7am to extinguish the blaze.
He says power, gas lines and the furnace at the farmhouse were disconnected about a year ago and the building was slated for demolition in the next few months.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been consulted but due to the extent of damage will not attend the scene.
No one was injured.
