Two Killed In Crash North Of Grand Bend

Huron County OPP have identified the victims of a double fatal collision early this morning north of Grand Bend.

At 6:22am, police with assistance from the Grand Bend Fire Department and Huron County EMS, responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy. 21 at Schadeview Rd.

A preliminary investigation has determined the driver of a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound Ford Escort sedan. Police say the two drivers, both the lone occupants in their vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Escort has been identified as 50-year-old, male, Lee Kirwan of Wyoming. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Vander Gaag of Chatham.

Hwy. 21 between Zurich-Hensall and Dashwood roads reopened before noon.
