Woodlot Bylaw Discussions Halted
The Lambton Federation of Agriculture has halted discussions with county staff on a new woodlands conservation bylaw.
In a letter, President Brooke Leystra cites ongoing concerns and confusion with the proposed changes as the reason for stepping back.
The federation supports going back to the existing bylaw and only working with the county on minor changes.
St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold agrees things have become complicated.
Numerous groups have expressed concerns that changes to the bylaw infringe on private property rights.
Mayor Arnold says the county will continue to work with landowners to create something less punitive and more collaborative.
