A group wanting to install a dog park in Clearwater Park is looking for city council approval Monday.

The Clearwater Dog Park Committee wants to install the dog park, adjacent to the ball diamonds and tennis courts, on a one year pilot.

Mayor Mike Bradley is reluctant and says dog parks in other communities have conflicts on a regular basis.

The committee has raised nearly $7,000 to cover the installation of fences and gates and the additional electricity costs for lighting.

The group is also asking that the second ball diamond at the park be used as a seasonal dog park during the off season from November to April.
