A mass casualty simulation, staged at the RBC Centre today, put Lambton College paramedic, nursing and fire students to the test.

During the intensive scenario, a Zamboni driver hit a natural gas line after suffering a heart attack in transit, triggering an explosion.

Victims, played by St. Clair Secondary School drama students, were scattered throughout the stands requiring various degrees of care.

Lambton College Paramedic Program Coordinator Tony Mallette says its a chance for his students and those from the Bachelor of Science Nursing Programs and Fire School to put all of the skills they’ve learned in the classroom into practice.

Members of Lambton EMS and the Wallaceburg CCAC were also involved in the simulation.
