A group of U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Blue Water Bridge have raised money to help protect one of St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department’s dogs in the canine unit.
$1,200 was raised to purchase a bullet proof vest for K-9 Fist.
Officer Bridget Hillard led the fundraiser and says a lot of K-9’s have been hurt or killed because they didn’t have one.
Fist and his handler, Deputy Mike Pink, were presented the vest at the bridge in Port Huron Tuesday .
K-9 Fist works closely with the Border Enforcement Team to help stop illegal drugs from entering the county.
