Arena Decisions Delayed

Decisions on Sarnia’s controversial arena management strategy won’t be made now until May 5.

City Manager Margaret Misek-Evans says the delay is associated with elements the city is not in control of.

Sarnia Council was expected to make decisions at its meeting Monday.

A draft agreement involving a potential new Sting ownership group and the operation of the RBC Centre is still in the works.

There has been talk of Lambton College possibly assuming operation of the second rink at the RBC Centre.

The Arena Management Strategy also recommends that Germain arena close and be converted to an indoor facility to address a $335,000 decrease in city arena revenues.
