Winter Hangover Into Spring

Today is the last full day of what’s been an unusually long, harsh winter for southwestern Ontario.

Spring officially arrives tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:57pm.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says unfortunately it’s not going to feel like spring for awhile.

Coulson says the long and stubborn pattern of colder than normal conditions will persist through much of the month of April.

He says that’s not to say there won’t be some nice spring days but overall it could be the second half of May before seasonal temperatures really take hold.

If it’s any consolation Coulson says climatologists are already talking about the return of the El Nino phenomenon later this year that could result in more normal, possibly milder conditions next winter.
