The Lambton County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society holds its educational events at the LDS Church, 1400 Murphy Road every second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm. (in south hall) THE APRIL 14, 2020 MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED

SCHOOLS:

ALL schools across Ontario are closed until May 4, 2020, due to provincial state of emergency.

Effective March 16 at 5:00 p.m., Lambton College will close and implement its work from home strategy.

Lambton College announced in a media release Friday afternoon that classes will be suspended from March 16-20 to retool programs, but that the school will remain open.

LWI has cancelled the March 30 indoor presentation at the YMCA Learning Centre

MUNICIPAL & POLITICAL

Lambton Public Health is reducing some routine services to redirect resources to the COVID-19 response

The Annual General Meeting of the Sarnia-Lambton Federal Liberal Association scheduled for March 31 has been postponed until further notice.

The Point Edward Municipal Office will be closed to the public as of 5 p.m. Wednesday until future notice. The Point Edward operating budget meeting as well as a regular council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, have been cancelled.

The City of Sarnia closing all facilities including city hall as of 4:30 p.m. March 18 until further notice. Essential services being maintained.

Any individual with a scheduled date to attend the Sarnia Police Station to have fingerprints taken is being told not to attend until further notice is given.

A meeting between Sarnia-Lambton officials and Ontario’s health minister to discuss a detox centre in the city is in the process of being rescheduled.

Sarnia City Council Meeting for March 23rd is cancelled.

The town of Petrolia has cancelled its regular town council meeting scheduled for March 23 and closed its municipal office to the public.

Sarnia Transit says there will be no College Express for the Remainder of the semester.

The city of Sarnia, Lambton County, Petrolia and Point Edward all announced facility closures and program cancellations.

MP Marilyn Gladu’s office is closed to the public. Concerns are being handled by phone (519) 383-6600.

Tourism Sarnia Lambton will be closed to the public until April 5th.

Effective Wednesday March 18, the St. Clair Township Civic Centre will be closed to the public. In addition, the Moore and Sombra museums, the library buildings, the local community halls – inclusive of all scheduled events – will be closed at end of business Tuesday.

Until further notice, the Longwoods Road Conservation Area Resource Centre/Museum will be closed to the public — the Longwoods Road Conservation Area will remain open from 9 a.m. to sunset.

The County of Lambton has closed all cultural services facilities, including libraries, museums and the gallery, until April 5.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority has cancelled the 2020 Maple Syrup Festival scheduled for March 21 and 22.

Mooretown Sports Complex is closed for the foreseeable future.

The Watford Arena, Centennial Hall and the Warwick Community Centre will all be closed until further notice. All ice and facility rentals are cancelled.

The Warwick Township Office will be closed and is tentatively planned to reopen on Wednesday, March 18th.

ENTERTAINMENT

All operations at Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre, including rehearsals, meetings and all other business under the Theatre Sarnia and Imperial Theatre umbrella, will be suspended until April 6th.

Jackpot City will close all Ontario locations (Sarnia, St. Thomas, Timmins, Forest City) until further notice.

Cineplex has announced that it will be closing all of its cinemas across Canada until April 2.

All Goodwill Community Stores and Donation Centres are now closed. Please do not drop off donations while they are closed as it creates a health risk for our community. The Goodwill Career Centre on London Road will be suspending in-person services until further notice. Although the centre is closed, it will continue to provide services via telephone and virtual services — (226) 349-2485.

St. Clair Child & Youth closing its physical locations, launching mental health telephone counselling & consultation service for ages 0 to 17 effective Monday March 23…(519) 337-3701.

Organization for Literacy in Lambton’s Adult and Children’s programs are cancelled until further notice.

The food bank will remain open by appointment only.

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario has closed all service locations until April 6 due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Community Living Sarnia-Lambton (CLSL) has made the decision to cancel the following programs until further notice: Wawanosh Day Options, The Activity Centre, Adult and Children’s Respite, Employment Transitions and JobPath, Community Participation / Recreation Activities

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton is closed until April 6.

Sarnia-Lambton Children’s Aid Society is closing the office and only communicating now through telephone calls– (519) 336-0623.

NeighbourLink Sarnia-Lambton will be closed until further notice — check the group’s Facebook page for updates.

Boys & Girls Club of Sarnia Lambton we will be suspending all programs and services for a minimum of 21 days — check the group’s website and social media channels for further updates.

St. Clair Child and Youth Services is closed until April 6, including in-home supports through Family Solutions and Youth Justice Services at Sarnia courthouse.

The Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre will be closed to the public beginning Monday with plans to reopen April 6th unless otherwise indicated.

The Sarnia Humane Society is closed to the public and all volunteers.
Only the following essential services will be permitted:
1. Intake of Stray Animals
2. Owner pick ups of stray animals
3. Pick up of already adopted animals

Pathways’ Health Centre for Children is closed for services until April 6th.

Ska:na Family Learning Centre, and Little Friends Childcare/Early ON Centre is closed until April 5th.

The New Beginnings ABI and Stroke Recovery Association in Sarnia will be closed until April 5th.

The Point Edward Skating Club has cancelled its annual skating carnival “What a Wonderful World” scheduled for April 4-5.

The Clean Harbors Household Hazardous Waste collection day March 28 is cancelled.

The Lambton County Music Festival (April 20 – May 1) is cancelled.

The 37th annual Sarnia Home Show scheduled for early April has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Bluewater Anglers are cancelling their annual Hatchery Open House March 21 and March 22.

The Sarnia Horticultural Society meeting scheduled for Wed., March 18 at the Lochiel Kiwanis Centre is cancelled.

Ontario orders closure of non-essential businesses effective at day’s end March 24 for 14 days.

All courses at Bluewater First Aid Training Centre closed until April 6.

The Maple City Homes administration office will be temporarily closed effective end of business day Thursday, March 19th. Staff will continue to provide all regular services, during regular business hours, but remotely. Means of communication will be easily accessible via video chat, email or telephone. As of Friday, March 20th at 5 p.m. all construction activity will be put on hold, and the situation will be re-evaluated on March 30th.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has decided to temporarily close all casinos across the province including sites in Sarnia and Point Edward.

The Royal Canadian Legion on Front Street in Sarnia is closed until further notice.

The Petrolia Legion is closed until further notice.

St. Pauls Church in Petrolia is closed (including the office) until further notice

All church services at Watford United Church are cancelled until further notice.

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 429 Indian Road N., Sarnia has suspended worship services until further notice.

Forest United Church has cancelled their church services for March 22 & 29, as well as all functions and events up to and including the Soup & Sandwich on April 5

Wilkesport United Church’s stew supper on March 19th has been cancelled.

Grace United Church is closed.

ROADS:

Old Lakeshore Road between Penhuron Drive and Kenwick Street will be closed to through traffic during weekdays, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.,until the end of March.

Old Lakeshore Road between Helen Avenue and James Street West is closed until the middle of March for shoreline restoration. Local traffic only.

Fleming Road is closed between Egremont Road to Lakeshore Road in Plympton-Wyoming.  The closure is expected to last for four weeks.
