GOJHL announces Midwestern Conference award winners

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced the Midwestern Conference award winners for the 2022-23 season.

The KW Siskins saw the MVP award go to star forward Blake Wideman (39 G, 32 A). Reid Oliver of the Stratford Warriors was named Defenceman of the Year (14 G, 37 A). Ayr's young defender Blair Scott was named Rookie of the Year (13 G, 25 A). Elmira Captain Adam Grein earned Defensive Forward of the Year Honours, as well as the award for Outstanding Contributions to One Team (21 G, 21 A). Cambridge Captain Tanner Bibby was awarded for Ability and Sportsmanship (36 G, 41 A). Stratford Head Coach Dave Williams earned Coach of the Year honours (38-11-1 record including 18 game win streak).

Stratford Captain Zac McCann was awarded as league Top Scorer (27 G, 56 A), and the KW Siskins goalie tandem of Nolan Chartrand and Nicholas Galda earned Best Team Goaltending Average, pairing with Chartrand being named GOJHL Goalie of the Year (24-6 record, 1.94 GAA, .928 save %, 8 SO), helping the Siskins finish 1st in the Midwestern Conference (78 points).

Tanner Bibby (Cambridge), Zac McCann (Stratford), Blake Wideman (KW), Reid Oliver (Stratford), Andrew Van Antwerp (KW) and Nolan Chartrand (KW) were all named to the First All-Star Team. The All-Rookie Team was made up of Luke Della Croce (Elmira), Madden MacDougall (Elmira), Tate Vader (Listowel), Blair Scott (Ayr), Tyson Downs (KW) and Hayden Sabourin in net (Elmira).
