2023 Tankard and Scotties tournaments massive successes in Port Elgin

The 2023 Ontario Tankard and Scotties tournaments were both big successes for Port Elgin.

Both tournaments came to a close on January 29, as Team Homan took the Scotties crown in an exciting back and forth final. Rachel Homan's rink out of Ottawa took on Hollie Duncan of the Woodstock Curling Club before a sellout crowd at the Plex. Team Homan got out to an early lead and never looked back in a 9-2 win in eight ends.

In the final of the Tankard, Mike McEwen from the Royal Canadian Curling Club took the title over Glenn Howard from the Penetanguishene Curling Club. McEwen was up 7-1 at the fifth end break on the way to an 8-3 win in seven ends.

Attendance for the event is estimated to be well over 10,000, with estimated viewers of the Curlon broadcasts in excess of 1 million people.
