Softball Canada announces core team for men's U23 squad

Softball Canada has unveiled their core roster for the men's U23 team in 2023.

Among the selections is Williamsford native Owen Torrie, who played hockey in the PJHL for the Walkerton and Hanover and currently plays for the Mapleton-Minto 81's. Shakespeare native Reese Yantzi is also on the core roster. This core group of 11 athletes will represent Canada at the U23 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup. The tournament will be played April 15-23, 2023, in Parana, Argentina.

The coaching staff will select the remaining athletes by March 1 to form its 16 person World Cup roster. Team Canada was awarded a wild card spot in December to participate in the tournament and will join 11 other nations there.
