Ontario wins softball gold at Canada Summer Games

Some local ball players helped Ontario beat Nova Scotia 6-3 over the weekend to win gold in softball at Canada's Summer Games in Niagara.

Willamsford's Owen Torrie picked up the win in the pitcher's circle and hit a home run.

Torrie's pitching line was seven innings pitched, with three earned runs on seven hits, three strike outs and four walks. His home run came in the top of the fourth inning, which tied the game at the time, before Ontario tacked on a couple of more runs to take the lead.

Wingham's Mac Mulvey was 2-for-4 with a couple of singles.

Mildmay's Curtis Ruetz came into the game as a substitute and went one for two with an RBI.

Belmore's Austin Eadie also got into the game.

Ontario has now won five straight gold medals in softball at the Canada Summer Games.
