Clinton Raceway says thank-you to fans

Fans were treated to a great day of racing action and giveaways at Clinton Raceway on Sunday, July 17 for Fan Appreciation Day.

A large crowd of almost 1,000 people gathered at the Huron County oval to receive a well deserved thank you for supporting the racetrack every season for the last 52 years.

The racing action kicked off with the featured race, a non winners of $3,000 last 3 event.

After a dominating performance in last Sunday’s Seniors Pace, 12 year old New Zealand bred Cullen Keefe N once again found himself in the winner’s circle. Driver Lorne House made the early lead from post position 6, before slowing the pace through the middle half of the race. The 12 year old stallion was all business turning for home, holding off all challengers to capture his second win of the season.

The Lorne House trainee has now accumulated $114,138 in earnings and visited the winner’s circle 21 times since coming to North America in the summer of 2016.

The Vanastra Curling Club was trackside for their annual day at the races fundraiser. Their 50/50 raffle and bake sale raised over $2,500 for their club. The winner of the 50/50 raffle took home $867.

The Super Sunday show returns to Clinton Raceway on Sunday, July 24, with trackside games, trivia, prizes and much more. The Hunter Costello Memorial Fun-dation will also be trackside for their fundraiser that will include a 50/50 raffle and bake sale.

Racing action will get underway at 1:30 p.m.
