Mitchell hosts first game of next PJHL playoff round

Fresh off their division title, the Mitchell Hawks will now focus on the next round of the Schmalz Cup Playoffs.

Mitchell will face Stayner starting Friday night with Game 1 in Mitchell.

Mitchell finished the regular season 24-5-3, scoring 140 goals and allowing 49.

Stayner was 25-4-1 with 195 goals scored and 72 allowed.

The Siskins playoff run saw them sweep Huntsville in a first round series, then win in seven games against Alliston in the second round, before defeating Schomberg in the Carruthers Division Final in four straight.

Both teams have received stellar goaltending through their respective playoff runs so far.

In 14 games, Tyler Parr of the Mitchell Hawks has a 1.13 GAA and .964 save percentage with five shut outs.

Stayner's Cameron Hansen has yet to lose a game at 10-0. His GAA sits at 1.80 and has a .936 save percentage. He played in two games versus Huntsville in the first round, missed the first three games of the Alliston series, and has since played in eight straight games.
