Port Elgin 2022 Tankard Tournament looking for volunteers

A major curling tournament is coming to Port Elgin next year, and the event's steering committee says over 200 volunteers will be required.

The 2022 Ontario Tankard will be held at the Plex in Port Elgin from February 9th-13th, with the winner moving on to represent the province at The Brier, the Canadian national men's curling championship.

A release from the event's steering committee says volunteers are needed to help with decorating, hospitality (bar and food services), 50/50 ticket sales, first aid, set up and takedown, ice attendants, ticket sales, scorekeepers and timekeepers.

The release notes that volunteers will be asked to pay a "Volunteer Fee" of $140, but in return, they will receive a "Volunteer Rewards Package worth about $600", which includes Tankard-branded clothing, tickets to all draws, and access to three volunteer appreciation events (a golf tournament, a curling bonspiel and a volunteer appreciation gala).

Those interested in becoming volunteers for the 2022 Ontario Tankard can send their name, phone number and email address to oncurlmens22volunteers@gmail.com.
