Former Leaf captain Rick Vaive shares some some stories from his new book with the team on MWO Sports on CKNX.
Rick Vaive's book is titled Catch 22: My Battles in Hockey and Life.
He touches on many parts of his life including his tenure as Leafs captain.
"Börje Salming who sat beside me, was a real big backer for me," said Vaive. "When I did have something to say, I wasn't a rah-rah, yelling type of guy but there was times when I stood up and said a couple of words."
He also describes his battle with alcoholism.
"I didn't realize that it was a real problem until right around the end of my stop in Buffalo at the end of my career. And then into my coaching career as well. And after my first year, had a bad incident after we got beat out in Norfolk and decided to quit the next day and I did."
MWO Sports is on CKNX at 5:30 p.m. Friday just ahead of the Leafs' game against Edmonton.
Following MWO Sports, the Leafs' pre-game show starts at 6:30 p.m. and the opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
