Two Brucefield natives have helped Canada get off to a great start at the 2019 Winter Deaflympics this year.
Jesse and Cody McIntyre were both named to Canada’s Deaf Hockey team for the Deaflympics back in September, with the event well underway in Valtellina and Valchiavenna, Italy.
Canada so far has a 2-0 record in hockey, beating Russia 3-1 in their first game on the 13th and Finland 5-1 on the 15th. Canada next take on Kazakhstan on the 18th and the USA on the 20th, with the medal games played on the 21st.
The games began on December 12th and run until the 21st and can be viewed live here. Besides hockey, the games also feature Alpine skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Curling and Snowboarding. This is the 19th edition of the Deaflympic games.
