Bulldogs earn a six point weekend, Mitchell-Hanover game postponed

The Kincardine Bulldogs put an exclamation point on their weekend, picking up six points with three wins.

Sunday's win came in overtime against Goderich 5-4.

The Flyers scored early in the second period for a 3-1 lead. The Bulldogs battled back scoring twice in the second to tie it and then scored early in the third to take the lead. The Flyers would tie it up with a goal by Jeff Fritzley with the extra attacker on the ice with under a minute to play in regulation.

But Kincardine made sure the overtime didn't last long as Mike Fieghen scored just 35 seconds into overtime for the win. It was Fieghen's 14th goal of the season.

Kincardine also beat Wingham 4-0 and Hanover 3-2 in overtime.

The six crucial points also keep Kincardine close to Mitchell in the standings. The third place Hawks have 34 points and the Bulldogs 30.

Mitchell had a 2-1 lead over Hanover in the second period of their game at the P and H Centre. But the game was suspended and eventually postponed due to poor ice conditions. No word yet on a make up date.
