Wingham Silver Stick well underway once again

The annual Wingham Midget Silver Stick tournament is well underway again.

Teams from around the region have come to compete and earn their way to the next level of the tournament in Forest, Ontario. Tournament organizer Jason Goodall says once again the tournament has been great.

"We've had good attendance and the games have been close, so that's all that we can ask for."

Goodall notes that this year they have 12 B and 9 C teams, down a bit from recent years. But the tournament is still well liked and Goodall notes the tournament continues to be a great source of funding for local minor hockey.

"Last year we were able to give a sizeable donation to Wingham Minor Hockey and we hope that will keep the registration fees down for all the kids that are registering for the minor hockey."

Goodall says this year the tournament had 174 sponsors which is excellent, and it shows the community cares. Opening ceremonies are Friday night, and the midget tournament will be followed by the annual Atom tournament, which has 9 C and 11 B teams for this year.
