Elmira keeps Listowel shots to a minimum

The Elmira Sugar Kings kept shots on their net to a minimum in a 4-1 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

The Cyclones only put 17 shots on Sugar Kings goaltender Dawson Rowe.

Elmira took a 1-0 lead at the 12:44 mark of the first period on a goal by Brett Allen. Then in the second, Hunter Dubecki extended the home team's lead at the 2:23 point.

Listowel's only goal game midway through the second when Cam Knight found the back of the net. Elmria scored on the power play just five minutes later, then sealed it in the third period. Tyson Hillier and Harrison Toms scoring those goals.

Dixon Grimes stopped 21 shots but lost his fourth of the season while Dawson Rowe picked up his fourth win.

The Listowel Cyclones split their weekend thanks to a win Friday against Cambridge and will now prepare for a three game weekend. Listowel will host Brantford at 7:30 p.m. on October 25, which will be the feature game on Cherrey Buslines OHA Hockey on CKNX. The Cylones then play in Cambridge on Saturday at 7 p.m. and in Waterloo on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

In other GOJHL action, Stratford beat Brampton 3-0. Warriors' forward and Seaforth native Cole Melady scored twice.

Waterloo got by Brantford 6-2. It was 3-2 after two periods then the Siskins opened it up with three unanswered goals.

And St. Thomas edged St. Marys 4-3. The Lincolns had a 2-1 lead going into the third but St. Thomas was able to score three times including the winner with just 1:36 left in the period. Nathan Small, Joe Mazur and Mason Mantzavrakos with the goals for St. Marys.
