Listowel Cyclones come up short in Waterloo

The Listowel Cyclones allowed two goals in the last two minutes of the first period and came up short in the end in a 4-3 loss in Waterloo.

The Siskins opened the scoring at 15:16 of the first period but Listowel quickly answered when Steve Grant scored just 27 sec later. But then Waterloo struck twice near the end of the first period, scoring at 18:15 and 19:10 to build a 3-1 lead.

The only goal in the second period came from Carter McLlwain on the power play.

In the third, the Cyclones tied it as Tyler Hotson scored at 13:17 but Waterloo found the winner under a minute later.

Listowel out shot Waterloo 38-22.

Waterloo goalie Zachary Allan stopped 35 shots for the win while Dixon Grimes stopped 18 shots in the Listowel net.

Listowel comes out of the weekend still leading the Midwest by a point of Elmira and Cambridge. Next up for the Cyclones will be a home game versus Brantford and is Listowel's only game on the weekend.

In other games, Elmira pounded Brampton 11-1 while Cambridge shut out Brantford 4-0.
