Cyclones ready for home ice

With their first home game of the GOJHL season Friday night, the Listowel Cyclones are feeling good after opening the year 2-0 at the Showcase.

Listowel beat Caledonia 2-1 and Chatham 3-2 in double overtime in Pelham last weekend.

Head Coach and general manager Jesse Cole says it felt great the wins, but more importantly the team played well.

"For playing the weekend against two teams with the number of 20-year-olds and experience, I was happy with the way our young guys showed up," said Cole.

The Cyclones have nine rookies on their roster this season.

"The executed our game plan for the most part for 60 mintues," added Cole. "I think the young guys are starting to see at times these details and the execution and how important they are. The success and rewards we get from taking care of the details."

The young season continues Friday as Listowel hosts Brampton at 7:30 p.m. at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex. Cherrey Buslines OHA Hockey will have the call for you here on CKNX with The OHA This Week starting things off just after 7 p.m.

Listowel will also host Stratford this weekend, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Stratford hosts Brantford Friday at 7:30 p.m.
