Huron native Ryan O'Reilly wins the Stanley Cup

A special night for a local Huron County native last night, as Clinton's own Ryan O'Reilly lifted his first ever Stanley Cup.

The St. Louis Blues managed to beat the Boston Bruins last night in game 7 of the Cup Final, with O'Reilly taking home the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. He finished tied for first in playoff scoring with 23 points with Boston's Brad Marchand, and led the Final in points, scoring goals in 4 straight games. That's the first time anyone has done that since Wayne Gretzky in 1985.

O'Reilly and the Blues, who claimed their first ever Stanley Cup as a franchise with the win, will now prepare for a parade on Saturday in St. Louis, and then O'Reilly will get his opportunity to bring the Cup back to Huron County later this summer. O'Reilly was born in Clinton in 1991 and played his youth hockey in Seaforth. He often hosts a charity hockey game in Goderich with his brother Cal called Hometown Heroes every summer.
