Doug Kennedy reflects on time as Kincardine Bulldogs GM

After many years at the helm of the Kincardine Bulldogs, GM Doug Kennedy is stepping down.

"Over the 25 years I've been the manager, I think we've won the league probably 9 or 10 times, and probably the highlight would be the year we got to the all-Ontario Final, and that was probably 15 or 20 years ago", stated Kennedy in an interview.   "But every year is a great year in the rink for me, whether we win or lose.    The people I've met over the last 25 years it's just unbelievable, and that's what I'm going to miss the most, is the relationship you can build with the kids and their families."

After more than 2 decades with him at the helm, Kennedy says the organization will be left in very capable hands. "Warren Beisel, who's been involved with the team in all 25 years as a scout, coach, assistant coach, he's got a wealth of knowledge and knows how to put a good junior team together so I'm confident he'll put the team in good condition for the coming years."

Kennedy says he will still be involved in local Kincardine hockey, including helping to organize the OFSAA high school tournament.

Kennedy hopes his legacy with the team will be remembered for one thing in particular. "Well I hope they remember me as being honest, that's the most important thing, and that I really cared about the players off the ice, too.    On the ice was important, but to me off the ice, and showing that you cared about them and their families, is just as important for any manager to realize."
